How I help · Testing

Normal labs.Still not well?

Many people still feel unwell even when their results come back “normal.” Functional testing asks a different question: how well is your body actually working?

We don’t just ask what’s wrong. We ask why.

I’ve been there

Normal isn’t the same as well.

“I definitely had signs of it, but didn’t know it, because my numbers were normal. Once I looked at better labs, I saw I had thyroid antibodies. My immune system was attacking my thyroid.”
“If you look at different labs, the functional medicine viewpoint is much more broad, and we can see what’s brewing before the bad thing happens.”

The tests I use

Only the tests that fit you.

Depending on your symptoms and health history, I may recommend one or more of these. No unnecessary labs.

  • How I decideTest first, or food first?

We decide after your first visit, once I know your history. Labs are expensive and not covered by insurance, so I don’t push them. Most people see real change just by cleaning up the inputs: what you eat, what’s in your air, what you put on your skin, your stress and your sleep. If something is still hanging on after that, or your symptoms are urgent, labs help us dig deeper.

Who this helps most

Told “everything looks fine,” but you still feel off?

Many people come to me with unresolved symptoms, normal labs, and no clear answers. Deeper testing looks at how your systems are working right now, so we can find patterns routine tests often miss and build a plan that matches how you actually feel.

  • Chronic fatigue or brain fogTired no matter how much you sleep.
  • Digestive issues with no known causeBloating, gas, reflux, or a gut that changes day to day.
  • Hormonal imbalanceCycle changes, hot flashes, mood swings.
  • Autoimmune symptoms or inflammationSomething is brewing and nobody can say what.
  • Suspected nutrient or mineral deficienciesB vitamins, iron, magnesium and more.

Functional blood work

A broader look at what your body needs.

Routine checkups look for disease. These panels look at how well things are working, so we can catch imbalances early.

  • PanelComprehensive blood chemistry

  • PanelThyroid panel with antibodies

Looks for thyroid trouble and autoimmunity beyond a basic TSH.

  • PanelNutrient and mineral testing

Functional levels of B vitamins, iron, magnesium, and more.

  • PanelInflammation and autoimmunity markers

Measures inflammation across the body and immune reactivity.

  • PanelCardiometabolic panel

Curious about a test?

Start with a free 20 minute call.

A test on its own is rarely the whole answer. Tell me a little about what’s going on and what you’ve already tried. I’ll reach out to set up a free 20 minute call, and we’ll figure out together what makes sense for you.

I order every test for you, so your results come to someone who will walk you through them.

Ask about testing

Good questions

About testing.

Not sure which test fits? Call me at (360) 448‑9603.

Is testing part of the 8 Week Food Adventure?

Labs are not included in the program. If we meet one on one and a stool microbiome test, a hormone test, or a functional panel looks like a good idea, I point you in that direction.

Do I have to go to a lab?

Not for most of them. The stool, vaginal microbiome, hormone and genetic tests are all done at home with clear instructions. Functional blood panels need a blood draw.

Who explains my results?

I do. We sit down together and walk through what the numbers mean in plain language. Individual consultations to review lab results are $200 an hour.

Do you bill insurance?

I am unable to bill insurance. Some services can be reimbursed from an HSA account, but most of what I do does not meet their requirements for reimbursement.
